Art Spectrum® Titanium White Soft Round Pastel shade.
Titanium White or Titanium dioxide is the white of choice today. It has great opacity without the harmful effects of the old lead-based whites. In fact, this pigment and other derivatives of Titanium dioxide are used in things like sunscreen (because of its high refractive index of n = 2.496, which is very close to diamond), as well as papers, and medicines. It is even used in the production of some skim milk, though don’t try mixing this with your tea or coffee.
When you next watch the Wimbledon finals, note the Titanium white used to mark out the lines on the courts. Titanium gets its name from the second generation of deities in ancient Greek Cosmogony. Two of them, Kronos and Rhea, become the parents of the Olympian gods, including the likes of Zeus, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon. Who would have thought that white would have had such a colourful history!
