Art Spectrum® Lamp Black Soft Round Pastel shade.
Lamp Black is commonly regarded as having its origins in the monumental and funerary decorations of ancient Egypt, though it’s uses probably go back far earlier along with the naturally derived earth colours.
Typically, it is more intense than the black produced from charcoal. Art Spectrum® Lamp Black is deep and intense, but with very slight earthy brown undertones typically associated with this black and which you don’t get in our Ivory Black.
The brown tint traditionally comes from the tarry residue produced in the burning of woods, resins, and coal-tar. Confusingly, Art Spectrum® Lamp Black is based on the modern Ivory Black pigment which has its own colourful history.
