Art Spectrum® Yellow Ochre Soft Round Pastel shades.
Based on a yellow earth pigment, Yellow Ochre is one of the most ancient pigments and has been in use since prehistoric times. The pigment is sourced from a tinted clay and its name comes from the ancient Greek word for ‘pale’, ὠχρός.
Evidence of red and yellow ochre has been found in connection with burial rituals going back over 20,000 years while the calcinated forms were most likely discovered shortly after kilns began to be used to fire clay, approximately 8,000 years ago.
